Former defender turned pundit Adam Virgo has told that Celtic have signed a “talented footballer” who can do “very well” if given the chance after bringing in Kundai Benyu.

The Hoops announced that the 19-year-old central midfielder had completed his move from English Championship side Ipswich on Thursday, marking their second summer signing.

Little is known of the teenage midfielder outside of Ipswich with his only senior appearances to date coming in the Vanarama National League for Aldershot, where he returned five goals and three assists in 23 appearances.

Now, Virgo has looked to offer some insight to the youngster to Celtic fans via his personal Twitter account and on Thursday he was full of praise for the youngster alongside stating that he felt it was an “amazing move” for him.

Benyu’s contract was set to expire at Ipswich on Friday June 30 and it is believed that Celtic will now have to pay a compensation package, similarly to what they did with star Moussa Dembele last summer.

Brendan Rodgers has already added ex-Aberdeen attacker Jonny Hayes to his treble winning team of last season and it is expected that he will look to add further as he attempts to match last season’s success.
