Former striker and outspoken pundit Chris Sutton has told that he believes there would have been an uproar if Ronny Deila had brought his son to pre-season, as Brendan Rodgers has done this summer.

The Hoops treble winning manager has proven a huge success in Glasgow following his appointment last summer after leading the Scottish giants to a domestically unbeaten campaign.

This has allowed him some freedom in his decision making and Rodgers has brought son Anton into Celtic’s pre-season preparations in a bid to get him up to fitness following his release from English League Two side Swindon.

Now, Sutton believes that the action is a showing of how much power the former Liverpool boss has in Glasgow and that there would have been a much different reaction had Deila made a similar move.

“It does show the clout Brendan has at the club. Can you imagine the furore if Ronny Deila had a young son who got the same treatment,” told Sutton, as quoted by the Daily Record.

“There would have been an uproar.”

Deila also brought some success to Celtic during his time in charge of the Hoops and he helped the club win two Premiership titles alongside a Scottish League Cup in his two seasons on the Parkhead touchline.

He also boasted a 63% win record in Glasgow, but a poor European campaign alongside a penalty defeat against then Championship side and fierce rivals Rangers in the Scottish Cup led to Deila stepping down from the job last summer.

He is now manager of Norwegian club Valerenga who he will be looking to return to the Champions League, while Rodgers will be hoping to emulate the success of the last campaign.
