Chris Sutton claims Celtic ace Moussa Dembele should stay at the club and develop under manager Brendan Rodgers’ tutelage.

The 20-year-old striker enjoyed a sensational first season in Scottish football with the Hoops as he played a major part in the club’s treble win.

The Frenchman scored 32 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions, as well as providing nine assists.

Following his exceptional performances he has gained many potential suitors, and the Daily Record reported on Friday that Borussia Dortmund are set to offer £30million for the young striker.

However, Sutton, a former Celtic star himself, has claimed Dembele would be better off staying at Parkhead this summer.

Speaking on BT Sport, Sutton said of Dembele: “First of all he had to win the battle with Leigh Griffiths who scored 40 goals last season, so Celtic are very strong in that area.

“He has been a real leader of the line, and he will only get better. He would be wise to stay at Celtic and develop under Brendan Rodgers.”

The 20-year-old only signed for the Glasgow giants last summer, as they snapped him up on a free from Fulham, and he signed a contract tying him to the club until 2020.

Dembele’s exceptional season also saw him earn a first call-up into the France Under-21 squad, and he has since scored four goals in four games for the side.

In one of those appearances he further enamoured himself to the Parkhead faithful by bagging a brace against England in a 3-2 friendly win in November 2016.

Sutton was part of four Scottish Premiership winning teams in his six season spell with Celtic, making 199 appearances in all competitions, scoring 86 goals.
