Scottish giants Celtic have confirmed Karamoko Dembele has signed a Scottish FA Youth Registration with the club.

The 14-year-old joins “numerous” other academy players who have also signed Youth Registration deals with the Hoops.

The club announced the news on their official website on Friday afternoon.

Dembele shot to fame in October of last year, when he was selected for the Bhoys’ Under-20s, aged just 13.

Following that appearance he was also privy to offers from Man City and Chelsea, as well as a host of European clubs, but he has decided to stick with the Hoops for now.

The youngster is also in the middle of a battle between England and Scotland over which senior team he will represent, having been capped once by England Under-15s and three times Scotland Under-16s.

His appearances for the young Scots came in November 2016, prior to his game for England Under-15s, which was a month later.

Celtic’s head of youth Chris McCart told their official website: “We are delighted that Karamoko and his parents have decided to continue his development at Celtic.

“He is a talented young player and someone who will continue to receive the very best of care and support from everyone at the club, as he has for some time.”

The Hoops have had success in bringing young players through the system in the past, as shown by Kieran Tierney, who was a mainstay of the side this term, making 40 appearances in all competitions.

Tierney, 19, has also made his senior Scotland debut already, and the Scottish FA will hope Dembele follows in his foot steps.

Dembele is primarily a right-sided winger, but he is also comfortable playing on the left and centrally.
