Harry Forrester has played down rumours that he has been banished from training by Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha.

The Daily Record claimed on Wednesday morning that the 26-year-old has been told by his manager to stay away from the Auchenhowie complex for two weeks and there is no point in him coming back.

Forrester played only seven minutes under Caixinha during the recently concluded campaign and upon the club’s early return to pre-season, the winger issued this response about his future.

“Rumours and reports that I have been suspended are totally false and inaccurate,” Forrester wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Despite Rangers finishing their season on May 21, Caixinha has ordered his side to make an early return ahead of the new season with the club set to participate in the Europa League qualifiers next month.

Former Aston Villa academy product Forrester moved to Ibrox last summer after then-manager Mark Warburton had purchased him from English side Doncaster Rovers.

He played a number of games under Warburton, featuring 28 times in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing two assists but he was then out of the first team picture when Caixinha arrived in March.

It is highly likely that Forrester will be heading for the exit door this summer, especially given the fact that Caixinha is making big changes at the club.

The Glasgow club have already purchased five new players ahead of the new campaign after they finished in a disappointing position of third during the 2016/17 Scottish Premiership season.
