West Ham captain Noble says club need more top players

West Ham captain Mark Noble has said that he believes the club needs to bring in more top players this summer.

The Hammers finished a respectable 11th place in the Premier League last season, during a rollercoaster of a campaign which saw them flirt with a relegation battle.

They also played a huge part in the top flight title race, as their 1-0 win over Tottenham meant Chelsea secured the title before the Lilywhites played again, with the result mathematically securing the Hammers’ Premier League safety.

That game also proved to be captain Mark Noble’s last of the season, after he was ruled out due to injury.

Ahead of the upcoming season, the West Ham icon, with 326 league appearances under his belt for the Hammers, believes the East London club need to be active in this summer’s transfer market, although accepts that bringing in the top names will prove to be costly.

Noble told Sky Sports News HQ on their website: “I think we need to get a few in. This market is so hard.

“Players are so expensive now and you get priced out.”

West Ham have already secured the services of former Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta on a free transfer, while they are in talks with a move for Sky Blues striker Kelechi Iheanacho, according to insider ExWHUEmployee.

The Hammers could also see a number of names depart the London Stadium this summer, with the club confirming on their official website that Norwegian international Havard Nordtveit was the first out of the door, the 27-year-old joining Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.
