Yannick Bolasie has revealed that getting back on the pitch for Everton by December would be the best Christmas present for him.

The 28-year-old has been out of action since he injured his knee last December which required him having to undergo surgery.

Winger Bolasie moved to Goodison Park last summer when the Toffees paid their Premier League rivals Crystal Palace £25million for his services.

The speedster started the season in positive fashion, scoring one goal and providing four assists from his 14 Premier League matches before his campaign was cut short.

Nonetheless, ahead of the new season, Bolasie has revealed that getting back on the pitch in six months time would be brilliant for him.

“Getting back in December would be the best Christmas present,” Bolasie told the Mirror. “A player like me always wants to be on the pitch.”

Despite Everton missing one of their key attacking players for a large chunk of the season, they still managed to secure a top-seven spot in the table.

Their seventh-placed finish means they will enter the qualifying stages of the Europa League next month, with victory guaranteeing them a place in the group stages.

Ahead of a gruelling campaign, which could see the Merseyside club play two fixtures a week and compete in four competitions, Ronald Koeman’s side have already been busy during the transfer window.

They have signed goalkeeper Jordan Pickford from Sunderland for a club-record fee and added Ajax captain Davy Klaassen to their ranks.
