West Ham have sold midfielder Havard Nordtveit to German side Hoffenheim, the club confirmed on Tuesday afternoon.

The Premier League club announced on their official website that the 26-year-old makes a switch to the Bundesliga outfit after one season at the London Stadium.

Slaven Bilic’s side added the defensive-minded midfielder to their ranks last summer when his contract at Borussia Monchengladbach expired.

However, just like his team, Nordtveit struggled to perform for the Hammers during the recently concluded campaign, they ended the season in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Nordtveit made 21 appearances in all competitions for Bilic’s side, including playing in 16 Premier League matches where he provided one assist for the team.

West Ham, who moved to their new stadium last summer, failed to adapt to their new surroundings which resulted in them suffering a number of big defeats.

Nordtveit was part of the starting XI that conceded four or more goals against the likes of Swansea, West Brom, Liverpool and Manchester City, these defeats came in the league and the FA Cup.

Nonetheless, he will now make a return to familiar territory after spending only one campaign in England’s top flight.

The Norway international has made 171 appearances in the Bundesliga, scoring ten goals and supplying nine assists, mainly for Borussia Monchengladbach.
