Papiss Cisse – 7/10

Signed from German side SC Freiburg in the January transfer window of 2012, it is unlikely that a player will ever have quite the same immediate impact that striker Papiss Cisse did upon arriving at St James’ Park.

Linking up with fellow Senegalese striker Demba Ba, Newcastle’s new number nine hit the ground running, netting a technically brilliant volley on his debut against Aston Villa. He finished the season with 13 goals in 14 games, including an unbelievable 30-yard strike against Chelsea which will go down as one of the best goals ever in the Premier League.

His goalscoring rate deteriorated during his time on Tyneside, including a disappointing 2013/14 season where he grabbed just two goals in 24 appearances. However, he will forever be remembered for his role in the fifth placed finish. Currently playing in China for Shandong Luneng.

Games: 131 – Goals: 44
