AC Milan winger M’baye Niang is holding off on an £13.2million transfer to Everton as he hopes that Arsenal will make a move for him, according to CalcioMercato.

The Italian football news website report that the Toffees had agreed the multi-million pound fee with AC Milan for the pacy French forward, but he is uncertain of a move to Merseyside.

Instead, it is claimed that the 22-year-old, who spent an unconvincing six months on loan at Everton’s fellow top flight side Watford, wants Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to join the pursuit for his signature.

TuttoMercatoWeb claimed earlier this month that the Gunners were considering hijacking the Toffees’ move for Niang, and it appears that the rumours have caused the player to delay any transfer just yet.

The winger, who has three caps for the French U21 side, made his Premier League debut against Wenger’s side after joining Watford on a six month loan, and he helped the Hornets pick up a 2-1 victory at the Emirates.

He scored two goals and grabbed two assists in sixteen appearances during his time at Vicarage Road, which was not enough to convince the Hertfordshire side to make a permanent move for him.

Niang has a contract at AC Milan until 2019, but it appears likely that he will depart the San Siro this summer.
