Arsenal are planning to hijack Everton’s move for attacking forward M’baye Niang, according to Italian publication TuttoMercadoWeb.

The report claims that that North London are looking to bring in some fresh faces in attack and manager Arsene Wenger believes that the 22-year-old would be a great addition to the squad.

This story follows up from the report in CalcioMercato which claimed that Everton officials travelled to Italy to discuss a potential move for the forward with Serie A giants AC Milan.

The Frenchman signed for Watford from Milan during the January transfer window on a loan deal.

Niang’s first Premier League match came against Arsenal as the Hornets came away with an impressive 2-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium at the end of January.

The forward also produced a fantastic performance on his home debut as he scored his first goal for the club in the 2-1 win against Burnley.

The France Under-21 international went on to make a total of 16 league appearances for Watford and his only other goal came in 2-0 victory against West Bromwich Albion at Vicarage Road in April.

Niang’s performances helped Watford guarantee a place in the Premier League next season but he decided at the end of the campaign that he did want to stay at Vicarage Road.

The forward’s contract at the San Siro expires in 2019.
