Nice winger Vincent Marcel has reportedly agreed terms with Tottenham – but fans of the club are underwhelmed by the possibility he could be signed.
FootMercato claim that Marcel, 20, has accepted in principle Spurs’ offer of a five-year contract after catching the attention of their scouts.
The French football news website have previously reported that the youngster has been pursued by a top five Premier League club, and have now delivered the update that the north Londoners are in pole position to sign him this summer.
However, this has not met with acclaim from Tottenham fans, who questioned why he does not have a detailed Wiki page and why there is no YouTube video showcasing his talent.
The White Hart Lane faithful also recalled how the club signed Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Clinton N’Jie from Ligue 1 in each of the previous two summers and neither played made a first-team impression.

Buying a French winger in the close season. How novel. Third time lucky? Shouldn’t his proper surname be N’Marcel? #THFC #COYS https://t.co/PR4IQQ0cjh

Marcel has less of a track record than N’Koudou and N’Jie did, accumulating just 10 appearances for Nice in the 2016-17 season.
However, the sprightly winger’s pedigree is evident from the fact that he has won two caps for France Under-20s.
Tottenham have strong competition on the flanks, with Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela, Heung-Min Son, N’Koudou and Moussa Sissoko all vying for a starting role.
However, both Lamela and Son could potentially miss the start of the season through injury, which clears the path for an attacking midfielder slot in the matchday 18 in August.
