Ray Parlour has urged Arsenal to demand Robert Lewandowski in return if they sell Alexis Sanchez to Bayern Munich this summer.

Parlour’s comments come after an El Murcurio report claimed Sanchez’s agent Fernando Felicevich had travelled to Germany to open contract negotiations with Bayern Munich.

It was said the Bundesliga giants were ready to offer £50million and a contract worth £11million-a-season in an effort to prise the Chilean away from the Emirates.

No mention of a part-exchange with Lewandowski moving to North London had been made, but Parlour believes that is the only deal that his former club should accept.

Speaking on Sky Sports 1’s Transfer Centre on Monday night (7pm), he said: “It would be an absolute nightmare if [Arsenal] lost [Sanchez], I know Bayern Munich has been mentioned.

“If he went to Bayern Munich, I’d be trying to get Lewandowski in a part-exchange. It would be horrendous if Arsenal do lose him – he’s been their best player by a mile this season.

“And they’d have to replace him, how much would it cost to replace him? It seems a good deal to give him the £300,000-a-week he wants.”

Sanchez, 28, was one of the Gunners’ top performers last term, scoring 30 goals in 51 league and cup games, so losing him would obviously be a massive blow.

However, Lewandowski could go a long way to filling the gap at the Emirates left by the Chilean, and he was in fine form last season too, netting 43 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions.

The 28-year-old Pole signed for Bayern from Borussia Dortmund on a free in the summer of 2014, and he has since played 147 league and cup games, scoring 110 goals.
