La Liga side Sevilla are interested in signing Aston Villa defender Jordan Amavi during the summer transfer window, according to Diario de Sevilla.
The Spanish newspaper claims that the Andalusian club are currently negotiating with the 23-year-old’s representatives over a potential deal.
The report claims that Sevilla are currently searching for a new left full-back following the departure of Frenchman Benoit Tremoulinas and they believe that Amavi is the perfect player to replace him.
The club are also looking for someone to compete with Sergio Escudero for the full-back position next season.
It is understood that Villa value the player around £8million but the La Liga side are trying to negotiate a much lower price.
This follows up from the story in the Birmingham Mail where Amavi is quoted as saying that the Championship side have placed him on the transfer list this summer.
Sevilla do not appear to be the only club interested in securing the Frenchman’s signature this summer as Sky Sports Italy correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio recently reported on his personal website that Serie A side Sampdoria were also keeping tabs on the Villa defender.
Amavi was a first-team regular for Villa last season, making a total of 36 appearances in all competitions.
The Frenchman’s current contract at Villa Park runs out in 2020.
