Nottingham Forest manager Mark Warburton has stated that the club’s new signing Jason Cummings fits the bill “perfectly” because he is a “young” and “hungry” player.

The Championship club announced on their official website on Saturday that they had signed the 21-year-old forward from Scottish side Hibernian.

Cummings makes the switch from Scotland to the second tier of English football after helping his team secure promotion to the top flight of Scottish football.

The highly-rated youngster struck 19 league goals for Neil Lennon’s side and he will now be looking to achieve the same success at Forest.

His new manager offered his thoughts on the player and explained why he opted to bring him from Scotland to England.

We are delighted to welcome Jason to the club. He has a good record in Scotland and he is a player with a very bright future.

“We want to secure young, hungry players and Jason fits that mould perfectly,” Warburton told the club’s official website. “We are delighted to welcome him to the club and we are looking forward to working with him going forward.”

During his career, Cummings has only played for Hibernian, mainly in the Scottish Championship where he has found the back of the net on 55 occasions from his 97 matches.

However, from his 16 games in the Scottish Premiership, he failed to score a goal.

Nonetheless, Warburton will be looking to mount a promotion challenge with Forest next term after they survived relegation on the last day of the 2016/17 season.

The Midlands outfit, who were relegated from the top tier of English football in 1999, are yet to make a return to the promise land.
