Paul Lambert has made it clear that there are no hard feelings between himself and Wolves following his abrupt departure last month.

The 47-year-old Scotsman left the Midlands outfit at the end of May after only seven months in charge of the Championship club.

Since Lambert’s exit, Wolves have opted to add former Porto Coach Nuno Santo in the dugout and he has already signed two new players ahead of the new season.

Centre-back duo Roderick Miranda and Ryan Bennett have since joined the club from Portuguese outfit Rio Ave and Norwich respectively.

Nonetheless, after Lambert and Wolves decided to part company with one another, the former Aston Villa manager could only speak highly of his former side.

Wolves is a brilliant club, terrific fan-base. There’s some really good players there at Wolves and I’m talking about the lads that Walter Zenga brought in as well.

“Our job was to try to help them along the way but they made the decision, everybody became comfortable with it,” Lambert told BBC Scotland.

“There was no animosity whatsoever – there’s some good people there and we just decided to go our separate ways.”

Former Celtic midfielder Lambert replaced Italian Walter Zenga in the dugout in November when the club were sliding down the Championship table.

Wolves suffered five defeats during the month of February which resulted in Lambert’s side being dragged into the relegation battle.

He managed to secure his side’s safety and they finished the Championship season in 15th place, recording 58 points from their 46 matches.

Lambert’s standout moments during his time at the club was his two wins over Premier League duo Stoke City and Liverpool in the FA Cup.
