Leeds United’s new signing Mateusz Klich has revealed that he wants to help the Whites reach promotion this season and claimed that he is “not afraid to fight”.

The 27-year-old has said that helping Leeds to promotion is his focus after he was named as the club’s first new signing under new manager Thomas Christiansen.

Klich has secured a three-year-deal with the Whites after moving from Dutch club FC Twente Enschede.

The midfielder joined the Dutch club last summer, where he made a total of 30 appearances, scoring six goals and providing four assists.

Now, Klich has made his Elland Road ambitions very clear and told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “The target is the Premier League, of course, for Leeds,”

“Everyone is talking about so it would be nice to achieve it.”

The midfielder described himself as “creative” when he explained to the YEP how he intended to play for the Whites and secure a spot in the starting XI: “I am more of a creative midfielder but of course I am not afraid to fight and I will give 100 per cent on the pitch for the three points and for the win in games.”

The Yorkshire Evening Post claims that Klich was pursued by a number of clubs before he penned the deal with Leeds, as Manchester United and Middlesbrough both had their eye on him.

The Polish international will be warmly welcomed by new boss Thomas Christiansen as he hopes to bolster his squad’s attacking prowess.

Christiansen will want to improve on Leeds’ seventh place finish last season, and has already made an impact at Elland Road after completing an overhaul of his backroom staff.
