Danny Mills has urged Leeds to act “very quickly” in appointing their new manager at Elland Road.

Garry Monk left his post at the Championship side last month and owner Andrea Radrizzani is yet to appoint a new face in the dugout.

The summer transfer window has officially opened and clubs across the country are already doing business ahead of the new campaign.

Mills believes Leeds should move quickly in their manager hunt because it could possibly affect the players coming in and out of Elland Road.

As a result, the former Premier League player sent his urgent message to the Yorkshire side.

“Ultimately players will sign for the manager,” Mills told the Express. “Yes players will sign for a club and will want to go for financial reasons, locality, size of the club and history, etc.

“But ultimately they want to know who the manager is. Some players will sign for a manager just because of that relationship. It’s something they need to get sorted out very quickly.”

Monk lasted only one season at Leeds but he enjoyed a successful campaign at the club, helping them to within five points of the top six.

The former Swansea boss brought through youngsters such as Ronaldo Vieira and Kalvin Philips over the course of the season added with the fact that he recorded a number of impressive wins.

The likes of Brighton, Derby, Aston Villa, Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday, all suffered defeats at the hands of Monk’s side.

New Zealand international Chris Wood, who scored 27 league goals for the club, was the main factor behind those wins and their impressive performances throughout the season.
