Leeds United are set to continue their summer spending spree by signing Werder Bremen goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald for a six-figure fee, according to the Mail.

The newspaper claim that Wiedwald, 27, is on his way to Elland Road to thrash out the terms of a deal with the Championship big hitters.

The Mail report that the two teams are trying to reach agreement on a fee likely to be in the region of £400,000 for a player who has been a regular for Bundesliga club Bremen in the last two seasons.

Wiedwald was a mainstay for the Bremen first team last season as they finished eighth in the German top flight, making 25 league appearances and keeping five clean sheets.

German outlet Kicker reported on Tuesday afternoon that Wiedwald had reached an agreement with Leeds and they were set to beat French club Nantes and Greek outfit PAOK Saloniki to his signature.

Follow-up reports in England stated that United are keen to sign the 27-year-old and have lodged a firm enquiry but have insisted that the deal is not yet done.

The German ‘keeper moved back to Bremen for a second spell in 2015 after joining Duisberg and Eintracht Frankfurt followed his progression through Werder’s youth ranks.

He has made 65 appearances in the last two seasons Bremen recently announced on their official website that they are set to sign goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka from Slavia Prague.

The strong Wiedwald link comes shortly after Leeds announced the signing of 20-year-old central midfielder Madger Gomes from Liverpool, and follows the arrival of Mateusz Klich for £1.5million from FC Twente last week.

United are seemingly set for a spate of other new arrivals with playmaker Samu Saiz and right-winger Esgjan Alioski among the reported targets.
