Thomas Christiansen admitted on Monday there will be a further influx of Leeds United signings to follow the arrival of Mateusz Klich.

The newly-appointed Elland Road manager suggested that the Poland international will be the first of many to arrive at the club this summer as he reshapes the squad that finished seventh last season.

Klich was signed from FC Twente for a fee of around £1.5million last Friday to become the first signing made by Christiansen and the recently appointed director of football Victor Orta under new owner Andrea Radrizzani.

The central midfielder was among the players who returned to pre-season training on Monday to begin preparations for the new Championship campaign.

“Very pleased, he’s a very good player,” Christiansen told the official Leeds website of Klich. “He adds to the squad that we have, this is important.

“All the signings that we will do is to add and improve the level of the team.”

The inference is clear that former Spain forward Christiansen is expecting plenty more to follow Klich through the entrance door.

Leeds have been strongly linked with a number of players in the last week, most notably Huesca playmaker Samu Saiz and Lugano winger Esgjan Alioski.

Christiansen has said he wants as many new arrivals at the club as possible before the team’s Championship curtainraiser against Bolton on 6 August.
