Notts County chairman Alan Hardy has declared that he wants to sign Jorge Grant from Nottingham Forest.

The League Two club’s chief has asserted that he wants to snap up the 22-year-old on a permanent deal after he enjoyed a successful loan stint at Meadow Lane in the second half of the season.

However Hardy believes that Mark Warburton is critical in striking up potential a deal, as he believes that the Forest boss could have his own first-team plans for the midfielder.

“I would love to buy Jorge because he is a quality player and a really good lad,” said Hardy, as quoted by the Nottingham Post.

“While it’s great taking players on loan nothing can beat having a player on your books who lays down roots and becomes part of your long-term journey.

“But at this moment in time we don’t know what Mark Warburton’s view is.

“He may well fancy him for next year and make him a part of his plans. That’s something we are waiting to find out.”

The Nottingham Post have claimed that Forest have offered a new three-year deal to Grant in a bid to keep him from securing a permanent switch across the River Trent.

However it is said that he will still move to Notts County on a loan deal if a transfer doesn’t materialise, despite the midfielder having a a sell-on clause tied into his contract.

Grant made 17 appearances for the Magpies during the second half of the campaign, scoring six goals and supplying three assists.

The Nike Academy product has been on the books at the City Ground since 2013 but has only made 20 first-team appearances for the Reds, who are expecting to make big changes to their squad over the summer following the completed takeover by Greek businessman Evangelos Marinakis.
