Nottingham Forest have offered midfielder Jorge Grant a new three-year contract, according to the Nottingham Post.

The regional newspaper claims that the Reds have tabled the 22-year-old a new deal in order to stave off interest from local rivals Notts County, who want to secure a permanent move for him after a successful loan stint at Meadow Lane.

It is understood that the Magpies’ chairman Alan Hardy is keen on funding a deal for Grant, who is believed to have a sell-on clause tied into his contract.

The Forest playmaker is currently in demand from a number of EFL clubs, as it is also reported from the Nottingham Post that Wigan and Bristol City are interested in acquiring his services.

However it is thought that if Grant snubs a permanent switch, Notts County will still land him on another loan deal next season to follow up a scintillating end to this term.

After starting just four games for Forest in the first half of the 2016/17 campaign, Grant was shipped across the River Trent to Meadow Lane, where he made 17 appearances in League Two, scoring six goals and supplying three assists.

The Nike Academy product, who moved to Nottingham Forest in 2013, has only made 20 first-team appearances in all competitions for the Championship outfit, who are expecting to undergo a big change this summer following the takeover of Evangelos Marinakis.
