Tottenham have turned their attention to overseas as it appears they will be priced out of the market for targets Wilfried Zaha and Ross Barkley, according to a report.

The Telegraph claim that Spurs are unlikely to compete against their league rivals for elite players this summer as they won’t be able to match their mega wage offers, with the focus on the development of a new £800million stadium.

It is understood that Crystal Palace are willing to pay Zaha £120,000-a-week and Everton want £50million for Barkley, meaning Mauricio Pochettino’s side are likely to miss out on their long-term targets.

However, the north London club have identified a trio of players from the European leagues to bolster their squad for next season.

The Telegraph reports that Ajax pair Davy Klaassen and Joel Veltman are on their radar, while Sampdoria striker Patrik Schick is also being scouted.

Klaassen is the captain of Dutch giants Ajax and will hope to lead his side to glory in their upcoming Europa League final against Manchester United.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has made 49 appearances this season across all competitions, scoring 20 goals and supplying 12 assists in return.

Meanwhile, Ajax right-back Veltman is also being considered and he has been an ever-present in the starting line-up this season.

Spurs are also eyeing young striker Schick from the Italian league as they look for further back-up to talisman Harry Kane.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a strong first season in Italy with Sampdoria and managed 13 goals in just 33 appearances.
