Leeds have a triggered a £1.7million clause in Hadi Sacko’s contract to buy him on a permanent transfer, according to French outlet Record.

The 23-year-old has been on a season-long loan at Elland Road from Sporting and his current deal is due to expire at the end of June.

The report claims that the Frenchman will be a Leeds player next season after the club triggered the purchase clause in his loan agreement which was set at £1.7million.

It is said that the Yorkshire outfit, who are now without a manager following Garry Monk’s resignation on Thursday, have told Sporting that they intend to keep Sacko.

Sacko moved to Leeds last summer and was brought to Elland Road by their former manager Monk, who made him a regular member of the team.

During his time in Yorkshire, the speed machine made 38 appearances in the Championship, scoring two goals and supplying four assists.

Towards the back end of the campaign, he lost his place in the team and was named in the starting XI on only two occasions during his side’s last ten league games.

Leeds went on to miss out on a top six spot by five points, with four defeats in April proving to be very costly for Monk’s side.

Huddersfield Town and Reading will contest the play-off final on Monday, with the winner set to join Newcastle and Brighton in the top tier next season.
