Liverpool are the favourites to sign Red Bull Leipzig forward Timo Werner, according to the latest bookmakers odds.
The Reds have been priced at 3/1 favourites to land the 21-year-old striker before this summer’s September 3 transfer deadline.
European giants Bayern Munich and AC Milan trail behind the Merseysiders with odds of 5/1 and 6/1 respectively, while Tottenham are also in the running at 8/1.
The odds come after Werner lit up the Bundesliga last season with a stunning return of 21 goals and seven assists in 31 league appearances.
His form in front of goal saw him receive his first call-up to the Germany national team in March and he made his debut in the starting line-up for his country’s 1-0 victory over England.
But, Werner is still contracted to Leipzig until 2020 following his £8.7million move from Stuttgart last summer.
Manager Jurgen Klopp could be looking for a new forward this summer after playing much of the last campaign without a recognised centre forward.
He also has a good knowledge of the Bundesliga and will know exactly what Werner can bring to the team giving his previous work down in his home country.
The German manager will be scouring the market for players this summer who he feels can lift Liverpool above their current fourth placing.
