Liverpool are not interested in signing veteran goalkeeper Iker Casillas, according to a Liverpool Echo report.

The newspaper claims the Reds are “baffled” by speculation linking them with the former Real Madrid goalkeeper after Sky Bet priced them as 8/11 favourites to seal a sensational transfer.

It is said Jurgen Klopp is not in the market for a new shot-stopper after Simon Mignolet proved himself in the second half of the 2016/17 campaign.

The manager also believes he has enough back-up options for the Belgian, in Loris Karius and Danny Ward.

Although Ward was loaned out to Huddersfield Town this season, he is expected to stay at Anfield next season, to provide cover for Mignolet.

Casillas is about to the final year of his deal at Porto this summer and Spanish outlet AS claimed he had reached a pre-contract agreement with the Anfield club, but this has been rubbished by the Echo report.

The 36-year-old goalkeeper was a mainstay between the sticks for Porto this term, making 43 league and cup appearances for the club, and keeping 23 clean sheets.

Casillas is a 167-time Spain international and he was part of two European Championship winning sides, and one World Cup winning side.

He also made more than 700 appearances in all competitions for Real Madrid, and won numerous honours with the club, including five La Liga titles.
