Liverpool have been installed as odds-on favourites to sign World Cup-winning goalkeeper Iker Casillas, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
Sky Bet priced the Merseyside giants at 8/11 on Wednesday afternoon to land Casillas, 36, before the transfer window shuts in early September.
This comes after Spanish outlet AS reported that Liverpool have already secured a pre-contract agreement with Casillas as he prepares to quit Porto this summer.
Bookies have responded by making the Premier League giants short-odds favourites to land Spain international and Real Madrid icon Casillas, who won the World Cup in 2010 and has a staggering 167 international caps for his country.
Valencia are the second favourites at 7/1 to sign the keeper, followed by Espanyol (8/1), Bournemouth (12/1) and Everton (14/1).
Intriguingly, Sky Bet have priced the possibility of Casillas remaining at Porto at a distant 10/1 even though he has another year remaining on his contract with the Portugese club.
The Real academy product made his name at just 17 and is regarded as one of the club’s greats after winning three Champions Leagues and five league titles during his time at the Bernabeu.
The veteran goalkeeper is at the tail-end of his career, but he was still the Porto number one this season and conceded just 23 goals in 43 appearances for the team that finished second in the league to champions Benfica.
Jurgen Klopp selected Simon Mignolet as his first-choice for the final months of the season and the Belgian bounced back from being dropped earlier in the campaign to produce the best performances of his Liverpool career to date.
