Monk to be interviewed for Middlesbrough job this week

Manager Garry Monk will be interviewed for the Middlesbrough job this week following his exit from Leeds the week before, according to the Mirror.

The Yorkshire giants confirmed on their official website six days a go that the 38-year-old had handed in his resignation to the club’s hierarchy with his contract expiring this summer.

It was detailed that Monk had little intention on discussing fresh terms with the club despite a successful campaign with Leeds which saw the famous club achieve a seventh placed finish in the English second tier.

Now, he could be set to make a quick return to management with the Mirror stating that he is favourite to take charge of Middlesbrough, who have just suffered relegation from the Premier League.

But, former Leicester, Hull and Southampton boss Nigel Pearson is also said to be interviewed this week and the Mirror details that Monk is understood to be keeping his options open with Crystal Palace and Sunderland also said to be interested.

The relatively young manager has already taken charge of two clubs since starting with Swansea in 2014 and it is expected that he will want his next job to be for the long-term.
