Leeds United have confirmed that Angus Kinnear will become the club’s new managing director.

The Championship club made the announcement on their official Twitter account on Friday morning a week after it was revealed that Ben Mansford had quit as chief executive.

Kinnear has joined Leeds from Premier League side West Ham United where he spent three years in the same role and he oversaw their move to the new London Stadium at the beginning of the 2016-17 campaign.

Kinnear also spent time at Arsenal where he also played a crucial role in helping the North London club move from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium at the start of the 2006-07 season.

New Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani expressed his delight at the appointment on the club’s official website.

“I am delighted to bring in a Managing Director of Angus’ calibre and experience and on behalf of everyone at Leeds United, I would like to wish him a very warm welcome to the club,” he said.

“I have experienced working with Angus in the past and I am confident his commercial experience and management skills will help to bring Leeds United to the next level of engagement for partners and fans.

“Angus has an excellent track record during leading roles at Arsenal and West Ham and I am sure he will contribute a great deal to the club.

“I am looking forward to working with him as we drive Leeds United forward into a new era.”

Kinnear will officially start his job at the Yorkshire club on June 8.

This news comes only 24 hours after the club announced on their official website that Garry Monk had resigned as first-team manager of the club following a disagreement over his contract extension.

Monk led Leeds to a seventh placed finish in his first season in charge of the club, missing out on the final play-off spot by just five points.

Leeds have still not appointed a new manager following Monk’s abrupt departure.

Next season will be the eighth consecutive campaign where the Yorkshire club will be playing Championship football.
