Leeds fans on Twitter have hit back at goalkeeper Danny Ward after the promotion winner shared a video containing the song “Leeds are staying down and the Town are going up.”

Ward, 23, played a starring role for the Terriers on Monday afternoon as he kept a clean sheet for his team across 120 minutes of football in the 0-0 play-off final draw against Reading before saving a penalty in the shoot out to send his side to the Premier League for the first time.

It was a momentous achievement for both the player currently on loan from Liverpool and the club and Ward took the opportunity to mock Leeds on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday after the Whites missed out on the play-offs by five points in seventh.

Understandably, the video has not been received well by the Leeds faithful on social media and many have taken the opportunity to fire back at the young stopper.

Supporters called the goalkeeper “obsessed” for hitting back at Leeds in one of Huddersfield’s greatest moments in the club’s history.

Ward joined Huddersfield on loan from Liverpool last summer with manager David Wagner holding close ties to Jurgen Klopp.

He will now be aiming to gain first team experience in the Premier League next season, while Leeds will be aiming to reach the English top-flight once again.
