Pontus Jansson has sent an emotional Twitter message to Leeds supporters where he has thanked them for the most “eventful” season during his career.

The 26-year-old centre-back joined the Championship side from Italian outfit, Torino, last summer instantly becoming a firm fan favourite at Elland Road.

Jansson’s hard-hitting style in defence added with his passionate celebrations warmed the hearts of the Yorkshire faithful.

Since the conclusion of the Championship season, Garry Monk has left his managerial post at the club despite helping the team to a top seven finish.

Nonetheless, Jansson sent this message to the club’s supporters on Twitter as he was clearly grateful for the manner in which they have helped him settle in.

“It has been the most eventful season of my career and I have everyone around Leeds to thank for that,” said Jansson. “See you next season.”

Over the course of the season, Jansson played 34 Championship games for his side, forming a brilliant partnership with Kyle Bartley at the heart of the club’s defence.

The duo were instrumental in Leeds mounting a promotion challenge before four defeats in April saw them drop out of the top six places.

Monk’s side ended up losing their play-off place to free-scoring Fulham, who finished the season, five points ahead of their rivals.

Nonetheless, David Wagner’s Huddersfield Town have since gone on to earn promotion to the Premier League after they beat Reading via a penalty shootout at Wembley on Monday.

The Terriers will join champions Newcastle and Brighton in the top tier of English football next season.
