Victor Orta is on the verge of being appointed Leeds United’s new technical director, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim the Spanish recruitment chief will imminently arrive at Elland Road in a fresh role created by new sole Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani.

Orta quit as Middlesbrough’s head of recruitment at the start of the week and the Sun report he will swap the relegated Premier League club for Championship big hitters.

Orta joined Boro in December 2015 and was close to former manager Aitor Karanka, who was sacked in March, prior to their relegation from the Premier League.

Intriguingly, Karanka is the bookmakers’ favourite to replace Garry Monk in the newly vacant manager’s position.

The Spaniard led Boro to promotion in 2015-16 and his reputation is still high even though he was unable to prevent the north-east club slipping through the relegation trap door this season.

Radrizzani is completely overhauling the Leeds management structure after taking 100 per cent control of the club at the start of this week.

Angus Kinnear was appointed the new managing director on Friday after taking over from Ben Mansford, who quit as chief executive a week ago.
