According to a report in The Mirror the want-away Southampton defender could be on his way to join the Saints Old Boys at Anfield.
Southampton are holding out for £10m for the 33-year-old but Liverpool could part finance that by selling Mamadou Sakho.
Klopp wants to add experience to his central defensive options and believes that the Southampton man fits the bill.
