Alexandre Lacazette

According to reports from Mirror Football, Everton and Liverpool are leading the charge to sign Arsenal strike target Alexandre Lacazette during the summer transfer window.

The Lyon talisman attracted heavy Premier League interest last summer after netting 27 times in Ligue 1 to claim the division’s Player of the Year award, but eventually opted to sign a contract extension at Stade de Gerland.

However, the 24-year-old has made no secret of his desire to seal a transfer to the Premier League, telling reporters last month; “The Premier League is a very attractive for a player. But I know that to go, I have to play well this season. I know it’s possible to go in the Premier League and Lyon is also aware.”

Arsenal are known long-term admirers of the 5 foot 9 assassin and will be expected to target a new centre-forward in the coming transfer window following an underwhelming campaign from Olivier Giroud.

But according to Mirror Football, it’s Merseyside rivals Everton and Liverpool who are currently leading the transfer charge for Lacazette’s services – eyeing him as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku and Christian Benteke respectively.

The British tabloid claims the France international is valued at around £22million – a figure which should be within the financial reach of all three Premier League clubs during the summer transfer window.
