According to reports from The Times, Jamie Vardy’s contract at Leicester City contains a £30million release clause.
The 29-year-old’s emphatic rise since plying his trade with non-league side Fleetwood Town just four years ago has become arguably the story of the season in the Premier League.
Indeed, the 2015/16 campaign has seen Vardy become the Premier League’s top scorer with 19 goals, set a new division record of scoring in eleven consecutive fixtures and barring injury, guarantee his place in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the coming European Championship.

Chelsea and Manchester United were both reportedly considering bids for the industrious striker during the January transfer window, but the King Power Stadium outfit rebuffed their interest and eventually agreed a new contract with Vardy, making him the club’s top earner, at the start of February.
According to The Times, however, the 5 foot 10 frontman’s improved terms included a £30million release clause – well within Chelsea and Manchester United’s financial reach should they decide to revive their interest in the coming transfer window.
Initially, that may seem unlikely considering Vardy’s age. But impressive performances at Euro 2016 could convince Chelsea or Manchester United to activate his buyout fee.
