Romelu Lukaku vs Fabricio Coloccini

According to Kicker, Manchester United are targeting Bayer Leverkusen defender Omer Toprak, whilst Mirror Football report that Bayern Munich have joined the race to sign Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Turkish international has been a consistent performer since moving to the Bay Arena from Freiburg in 2011 and is enjoying particularly strong form this season, averaging an impressive 2.2 tackles, 2.5 interceptions, 3.9 clearances and 3.1 successful dribbles per match.

Despite the 26-year-old’s strong displays, however, Bayer have slumped down to eighth in the Bundesliga table and are now five points away from a Champions League qualification spot with just nine games remaining.

Should Bayer miss out on Europe’s top tournament, a number of their flagship talents could be prized away – including Toprak, who is being monitored by Manchester United. The 6 foot 1 defender is said to be high on the Red Devils’ shopping list for the summer transfer window, having scouted him frequently in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, Mirror Football report that Bayern Munich have joined the race to sign Everton striker Romelu Lukaku – who was linked with a return to former club Chelsea just a matter of days ago.

Indeed, the Blues are reportedly keen to re-sign the Belgium international during the summer transfer window, following a campaign which has seen him become the Toffees all-time highest scorer in a single Premier League season and push his PL tally to a whopping 60 goals in 140 appearances – an incredible return for a 22-year-old.

But according to Mirror Football, Bayern Munich are also keen on the 6 foot 3 striker, sending technical director Michael Reschke to run the rule over him during a 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Tuesday night. They’re targeting Lukaku as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who could be heading to Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.

Everton will reportedly only sell Lukaku if a club meets their £56million valuation – doubling the £28million investment made by the Goodison outfit just two summers ago.
