Long-term target set for summer Spurs transfer; Chelsea in five-club battle to sign Bernabeu wantaway

Loser - Saido Berahino

According to The Guardian, Tottenham Hotspur will finally seal a transfer for long-term strike target Saido Berahino during the summer; whilst OK Diario report that Chelsea are targeting Real Madrid enforcer Casemiro.

The West Bromwich Albion star has been on Spurs’ radar for the best part of 18 months and was the subject of four bids from the north London outfit last summer – all of which were rejected by Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace.

The structure and timing of Spurs’ offers, the latest coming on transfer deadline day, infuriated the Hawthorns chief to the extent that he blocked the much-anticipated move – leading to Berahino’s infamous Twitter rant and subsequent absence from Tony Pulis’ starting Xi.

But relations between the two clubs is said to have improved and West Brom have now ‘agreed in principle’ to let the 22-year-old forward leave for White Hart Lane in the coming transfer window.

With Peace still valuing Berahino at £25million, however, and the Lilywhites reluctant to pay that much for a player entering the final twelve months of his contract, another heated feud could erupt once negotiations over price-tag begin.

Meanwhile, OK Diario report that Chelsea are one of five clubs who could swoop for Real Madrid enforcer Casemiro during the summer transfer window.

The Brazil international, who re-joined Los Blancos last summer following a year at FC Porto, featured regularly under Rafa Benitez but has registered just 183 minutes in La Liga since Zinedine Zidane’s appointment at the start of 2016.

The Spanish publication claim the 24-year-old defensive-mid will resultantly look to leave the Spanish capital during the coming transfer window, mooting Chelsea, Juventus, Inter Milan and PSG as potential suitors – all of whom targeted him last summer.

Meanwhile, FC Porto have an option to buy back Casemiro for an agreed €21million, but it only comes into effect in summer 2017.
