According to reports from The Guardian, manager Roberto Martinez has hinted Everton may cash in on Chelsea and Manchester United strike target Romelu Lukaku during the summer transfer window.
The Belgium international netted twice past his former club in Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final to take his season tally to an impressive 25 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions – including 18 strikes in the Premier League.

Now boasting a rather phenomenal career return for a 22-year-old striker still learning his trade, 119 goals in 268 outings, a number of Europe’s top clubs look set to battle it out for his services during the summer transfer window, most notably former employers Chelsea and Manchester United.
Indeed, English sources have described Lukaku as a ‘main transfer target‘ for the Red Devils, whilst recent reports have claimed the Blues want to re-sign him during the summer – but it will require forking out a club-record £56million fee.
And according to The Guardian, Toffees boss Roberto Martinez has now hinted that the Merseysiders may sell their prized striker during the coming transfer window. When asked whether rejecting bids for their developing talents was key to future success at Goodison, he unexpectedly replied; “Not really, no.”
“If Manchester United cannot keep Cristiano Ronaldo, that is a sign of a modern game. If you sell a player for those sorts of amounts, you can get the benefit of adding three or four players.”
