Kostas Manolas

According to reports from Calcio Mercato, Liverpool are targeting Roma centre-back Kostas Manolas ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Greek international has been in good form this season, netting once in 28 Serie A appearances whilst averaging 1.7 tackles, 2 interceptions, 4.5 clearances and 2.6 successful aerial duels per match.

It was revealed earlier this week that Chelsea have seen a £31million bid for the 6 foot 2 centre-half rejected by Roma, but the latest reports from The Sun claim the Stadio Olimpico outfit are willing to sell during the coming transfer window – provided a club meets their £35million valuation.

But according to Calcio Mercato, the Blues are by no means alone in their pursuit of Manolas, with Premier League rivals Liverpool also targeting the 24-year-old.

The Reds look set for a defensive shakeup via the transfer market this summer. They’ve conceded the most goals of any side in the Premier League’s top nine this season and have already sealed one defensive reinforcement in Joel Matip, who is set move to Anfield from FC Schalke on a free transfer.
