According to reports from The Sun, Manchester United could use Juan Mata as a makeweight in an approach for Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann during the summer transfer window.
The France international has flourished since moving to Vincente Calderon in summer 2014, going on to bag 44 goals in 87 appearances across all competitions – including twelve La Liga strikes this season.
His versatility, industry and stamina has often seen the 24-year-old billed as a good fit for Premier League football and he’s attracted plenty of interest from the English top flight.

Chelsea and Manchester United were both linked with Griezmann last summer and recent reports have suggested the Blues are ready to revive their interest, viewing him as an ideal replacement for potentially Real Madrid-bound winger Eden Hazard.
But according to The Sun, Atletico Madrid’s interest in Juan Mata could see United beat the west Londoners to Griezmann’s signature. They were courting the Spaniard during the January transfer window and are expected to return for him in the summer.
Should that be the case, the British tabloid claim United will attempt to use the 27-year-old in a deal that will see Griezmann move the other way. The Red Devils reportedly rate Mata at around £30million, whilst the Atletico star’s contract includes a £60million release clause.
