According to Mirror Football, Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has rejected approaches from two Chinese clubs; whilst The Metro report that Liverpool face Juventus in the race to sign Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze. 

Recent reports have suggested the Red Devils would be open to parting with their ageing skipper during the summer transfer window and he appears to be attracting heavy interest from the Far East, with one Chinese club – believed to be Shanghai Shenhua – allegedly launching a £27million bid earlier this week.

But according to Mirror Football, the England captain has rejected approaches from two Super League outfits. The versatile forward is committed to staying on at Old Trafford until at least 2018, when there will be just a year remaining on his current contract, as he eyes Bobby Charlton’s all-time scoring record and United’s first trophy of the post-Ferguson era.

Meanwhile, The Metro – who cite reports from Calcio Mercato – claim that Liverpool face competition from Juventus in the race to sign Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze, who was linked with an Anfield switch last month. The German international is best famed for netting the winner in the 2014 World Cup final but he’s really struggled at club level over the last few years, finding himself a peripheral figure in Pep Guardiola’s plans.

Liverpool have been linked with a £37million summer transfer bid for the attacking midfielder, who was deemed one of the most exciting youngsters in world football whilst playing regularly under Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, but it appears Juventus are prepared to contest the Reds for his signature. The Old Lady reportedly believe the guarantee of Champions League football gives them a significant advantage in the race to sign the 23-year-old.
