Ben Chilwell

According to reports from The Express, Arsenal have seen a second bid rejected for Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur target Ben Chilwell.

The Leicester City left-back has made just three senior appearances for the Foxes – two of which came against Spurs in the FA Cup – and is still waiting for his Premier League debut.

But a host of top-flight rivals are keen to take the 19-year-old off the Midlands outfit’s hands. Spurs’ sustained interest has been well documented in recent weeks whilst Liverpool were tipped to launch a bid earlier in the transfer window as they considered cover for injured defender Joe Gomez.

But Arsenal have been the most proactive in courting Chilwell’s signature. They saw a £3.5million bid rejected last summer and reportedly launched a follow-up offer of £4million earlier this week.

According to The Express, however, Leicester have rebuffed Arsenal’s second attempt to sign the England U20 and are now planning to offer an improved contract that will increase his wages from £800 to £8,000 per week.

But the British newspaper speculates that the prodigious defender could force a move in the summer if he snubs Leicester’s offer of a new deal. His current terms expire in 18 months.
