3. Edinson Cavani

According to ESPN, Manchester United are considering an official bid for PSG striker Edinson Cavani.

Following on from a prolific 104-goals-in-138-games spell with Napoli in Serie A, the Uruguay international has netted 69 times in 120 appearances since moving to Parc de Princes in summer 2013 – including 31 strikes across all competitions last season.

But he’s often been critical of Laurent Blanc’s decision to play him as a wide forward, to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a lone striker, and the Parisians boss not so subtly hinted earlier this month that he’d be prepared to let the 28-year-old leave.

The former Manchester United defender told reporters; “There is a problem with Cavani’s behaviour but my job is to think of the entire squad as a collective. The desires of the individual can’t affect the rest of the team. I believe that he can score here but I understand if he wants to consider other career opportunities.”

Arsenal and Liverpool have both been linked with 6-foot frontman, but ESPN claim it’s Manchester United who are now considering an official bid after Cavani’s representatives reached out to the Old Trafford hierarchy.

They’re hoping the Red Devils will revive their interest from summer 2013, back when David Moyes was regularly running the rule over the South American.

Manchester United would certainly benefit from sourcing extra firepower this month having scored the fewest goals of any side in the Premier League’s top six this season – just 28 in 22 games. What kind of value PSG place on Cavani, however, remains unconfirmed.
