Chelsea want Serie A star in shock £30m transfer; Arsenal identify ideal Aubameyang alternative

Carlos Bacca

According to The Daily Star, Chelsea are targeting AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca; whilst Mirror Football report that Arsenal have identified Watford’s Odion Ighalo as a potential alternative to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Colombian international Bacca joined the San Siro ranks from Sevilla only last summer in a £22million deal. But his impressive form since, bagging eight goals and one assist in 16 Serie A starts, has reportedly convinced Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink that the 29-year-old is worth bringing to west London.

Citing Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo, The Daily Star claim the Premier League champions are prepared to offer £30million for the 5 foot 11 striker – £8million more than Rossoneri paid just a matter of months ago.

Meanwhile, Mirror Football report that Arsenal are preparing a summer swoop for Watford striker Odion Ighalo – viewing him as a cheaper alternative to in-demand Borussia Dortmund frontman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gunners are in the mix to sign the £42million-rated Gabon international but with so many clubs interested – including Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United – they may eventually miss out on his signature.

According to Mirror Football, that will see the Gunners move for Ighalo instead, following his flurry of 14 goals in 20 Premier League appearances for the ninth-placed Hornets this season. A deal in January remains incredibly unlikely, however, so the north Londoners are reportedly focusing on a summer swoop instead.
