Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

According to reports from The Sun, Chelsea have lined up Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as a potential replacement for Eden Hazard.

The Belgium winger is yet to find the net for the Blues since claiming last season’s PFA Player of the Year award and it was alleged earlier this week he’s already decided to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

Accordingly, The Sun moot Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as a potential replacement. The 22-year-old is highly rated at the Emirates but five seasons on from his £12million arrival from Southampton is yet to forge himself a consistent role in the Gunners’ starting Xi.

He’s been tested as a winger, a No.10, a box-to-box and a defensive midfielder without truly making any position his own and has registered more substitute appearances than starts for the Gunners – 49 compared to 46.

Jose Mourinho was particularly fond of the prodigious England international and Chelsea’s interest appears to have survived The Special One’s departure. Intriguingly, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s current contract will have just two years left to run come the end of the season.
