According to reports from Mirror Football, Arsenal and Liverpool midfield target Granit Xhaka is set to leave Borussia Monchengladbach – and The Telegraph claim the Reds are weighing up a £37million bid.

The Switzerland international, who featured for his country regularly at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, has been in fine form for Gladbach this season, netting three times in 15 Bundesliga appearances whilst averaging 2.3 tackles, 3.1 interceptions and a whopping 81 successful passes per match.

Arsenal and Liverpool were linked with the 23-year-old in November and Mirror Football claim he now looks set to leave Borussia-Park Stadium, after father and agent Ragip Xhaka told reporters; “At the moment I prefer not to say too much. We’ll see what happens. I can say that several big clubs are interested. Everything is possible, we’re not ruling anything out.”

The Telegraph, however, who cite reports from German publication Bild, go one step further in claiming the Reds are already weighing up a £37million bid for the deep-lying playmaker – which, if accepted, would constitute a new record transfer fee for the Merseyside outfit.

Their current record signing is £35million flop Andy Carroll.
