Granit Xhaka

According to London Evening Standard, Chelsea have been offered Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor, whilst The Daily Mail report that Arsenal are monitoring Borussia Monchengladbach’s Granit Xhaka.

Spurs officially released the Togo international in September, but he’s still technically on the books at White Hart Lane. The north London outfit will continue to pay his £100k per-week wages until his contract expires next summer – unless another club takes him off their hands.

The Blues are expected to be on the lookout for added firepower in January as flopped loan signing Radamel Falcao prepares to return to parent club Monaco and LES claim 31-year-old Adebayor has been offered to them as a potential replacement. Prior reports have suggested he also could look to revive his career in Serie A.

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail report that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Borussia Monchengladbach star Granit Xhaka – once dubbed the ‘young Schweinsteiger’ by former Switzerland boss Ottmar Hitzfeld.

The deep-lying midfielder shares a similar style of play with the Manchester United star and has been in good form this season, netting three times in 14 Bundesliga appearances whilst averaging 2.2 tackles and 3.1 interceptions per match.

But the Gunners are by no means the only interested party. Liverpool were linked with the 23-year-old last month whilst The Daily Mail document interest from Bayern Munich, who view him as a potential successor to the ageing Xabi Alonso at the heart of their midfield.
