Jamie Vardy

According to London Evening Standard, Jose Mourinho’s departure could see Chelsea swoop for Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy; whilst The Express report that Everton are targeting Manchester United’s Bosman-bound youngster Nick Powell.

England international Vardy has set the Premier League alight this season with a division-best 15 goals in 16 appearances – setting a new record of scoring in eleven consecutive fixtures in the process.

London Evening Standard claim he was recommended as a January target to Jose Mourinho by technical director Michael Emenalo, but the Portuguese deemed the 28-year-old a poor fit for Chelsea’s style of play.

Mourinho was sacked yesterday afternoon, however, and LES allege the Blues could resultantly launch a swoop for the former non-leaguer next month. The £30million valuation is rather steep but along with his recent form, the fact Vardy isn’t cup tied in the Champions League is seen as a major selling point.

Meanwhile, The Express report that Everton are keeping tabs on Manchester United’s midfielder-come-striker Nick Powell.

The 21-year-old was regarded as the most exciting home-grown talent in the Football League when the Red Devils picked him up from Crewe Alexandra in summer 2012, but injury problems have severely impacted his progress at Old Trafford.

Louis van Gaal unexpectedly called upon the England U21 during recent defeats to Wolfsburg and Bournemouth, but his Red Devils future remains in serious doubt with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

The Express claim Toffees boss Martinez tried to sign Powell during his four years at Wigan and is now considering a move for next summer.

Not laughed so much for ages ????????
Vards is playing for the league leaders…who incidentally also have Billionnaire owners.
Not for sale! Lol, lol playing for the league leaders…a relegation battle is not on his radar.

As for Nick Powell…he was sent home from Leicester after a few months of a ‘season long loan’ last year because his work ethic was way below that expected from a foxes squad member. Barely featured in 3 months…too lazy! On the other hand, looking at the current Chelsea squad he would probably slot right on in. ????
