Riyad Mahrez

According to reports from The Daily Mail, Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona target Riyad Mahrez has insisted he will not leave Leicester City during the January transfer window.

The Algerian winger has played a pivotal role in the Foxes’ shock rise to the Premier League’s summit along with attacking accomplice Jamie Vardy, amassing an incredible eleven goals and seven assists in 15 league appearances.

That leaves the 24-year-old at third in the Premier League’s strike charts and second in the set-up rankings, whilst his 3.6 successful dribbles per match is a division-highest.

And Mahrez’s scintillating rise since representing Le Harve in Ligue 2 just two years ago has not gone unnoticed, with Arsenal, Manchester United and European champions Barcelona believed to be courting him ahead of the January transfer window.

Speaking with French radio station RMC, the 5 foot 10 winger has insisted he won’t be leaving the King Power Stadium next month – but hinted that he may move on during the summer.

As quoted by The Daily Mail, he said; “It’s best for me to stay until the end of the season. I was at Le Havre, I had six months left, but nobody came to get me. Leicester tried very hard to get me. I could feel that they wanted me. I took the decision without knowing the culture or the area. It was a risk. When you come from far away and you end up in the Premier League it makes you happy. I am happy that I signed for Leicester.”
