According to reports from The Sun this morning, under-fire manager Chelsea Jose Mourinho wants to stage a clear-out during the January transfer window.

The Blues suffered their seventh Premier League defeat of the season on Saturday, losing 1-0 to Stoke City in the Portuguese’s absence due to a one-match stadium ban, and now find themselves at 16th place in the league table – just three points above the relegation zone.

Surprisingly, Mourinho’s job appears safe for at least another week. But The Sun claim ‘the Special One’ is already planning to wield the axe, should he survive in the Stamford Bridge hot seat by the time the transfer window opens, and has ‘pleaded’ with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to sanction a January clearout.

They quote an anonymous source as saying; “He wants to get to the January transfer window to remove the players he considers to be bad apples in the squad and get the club moving in the right direction again.”

Although no names are mentioned by the British tabloid, the alleged cull could include the likes of Radamel Falcao, Oscar, Nemanja Matic and Branislav Ivanovic – all of whom have struggled for form this season.
